Paula Tosonotti is a professionally trained international chef and cake decorator who specializes in creating unique wedding cakes and groom’s cakes for your big occasion. At Cake Fiction we want to design a cake to match your personality and style and pay close attention to every detail that you specify.
Starting with your inquiry, then a personal consultation and tasting, right through to the delivery and final touches at your wedding venue, Paula aims to surpass your expectation. We help every client, working closely with their wedding or event planners, and hotels and restaurants across the Tri-State area to ensure that your wedding cake is perfect for you down to the very last detail.
Cake Fiction is now located in beautiful Long Valley NJ and we can deliver our wedding cakes throughout the region.
We are proud to have been recognized as a leading wedding cake vendor by both Wedding Wire and The Knot magazine as a result of the independent reviews our brides have posted about our business.
Every wedding cake we make is individually designed to suit your personal style and requirements. Some of our brides choose a classic white or ivory fondant covering, although we can also offer a dark chocolate fondant that tastes delicious. Many brides ask for a buttercream covering without the fondant, or a naked cake. We can happily do this, although it does limit some of the creativity that we can apply to a fondant covered cake.
What decoration will you choose? There are unlimited possibilities: Wedding cakes can be made in any color combination, with whatever shape you prefer (round, square, offset, hexagon, heart, custom etc.) and decorated with handcrafted sugar flowers, intricate piping, lacework, hand painting and special items.
Please scroll through the Cake Fiction wedding cake galleries on Facebook or on Instagram to see many examples of our contemporary and traditional designs. I want to design a wedding cake that is unique to you, however we can adapt elements from any of the cakes you see in our web site or you can bring inspiration from publications, your own invitation, fabric swatches, planned bouquet colors, or other images that express the style of your event. Remember that you will be commissioning me to design an unforgettable centerpiece for your event, so I want to achieve a result that is perfect for you.
Many of my customers request wedding cakes with sugar flowers, which can be perfectly incorporated in both traditional and more modern designs.
We hand craft our own sugar flowers which are colored and often dusted with powders to make them look like real fresh flowers. Popular flowers I have created this year include: calla, gardenia, gerbera daisies, lilies, magnolia, orchids, peonies, ranunculus, roses and stephanotis. We also make miniature cakes, cupcakes and cookies as wedding favors.
Fresh flowers can also look wonderful on your wedding cake, but we recommend you do not mix sugar flowers and fresh flowers since the moisture in the fresh flowers can melt the sugar. Cake Fiction prefers to use a trusted local florist to be sure the fresh flowers have not been treated with any harmful pesticides.
Remember that once cut, the flowers are no longer hydrated and will start to lose shape. Roses are a good fresh flower to choose for wedding cakes as they can stay fresh for a long time. Alternatives to consider are gerberas, daisies, lilies and magnolias as they all look beautiful on the cake and should hold up for the duration of the reception. However you should avoid fresh tulips, poppies and other delicate flowers that are liable to wilt quickly.
Please place your order early to ensure my availability, as we are often fully booked months in advance.
We personally deliver and set up wedding cakes to ensure that your centerpiece arrives on time and looks perfect for your event. Typically delivery is scheduled an hour before the start of your reception.
Delivery charge is a minimum $30, or $2 per mile plus tolls to the venue.
Our wedding cake is priced per serving, typically ranging from $9.75 – $14.75 depending on serving size and the complexity of the design you choose. Our minimum order value in wedding season is $350.
I recommend you book a tasting so that we can discuss your wedding cake design in more detail and talk about cake flavors and fillings, then I can draw a sketch for your approval. We can accommodate up to four people at a tasting, so bring the groom, family or friends along, it’s an enjoyable part of the process.
Normally we charge $40 for a tasting, but waive that fee when a cake order for over $500 is placed that same day. However, if you already have a cake design in mind, we can always confirm everything by phone and email, you only have to select your favorite combination from the flavors and fillings page on our web site.
You can read here a wedding blog by one of our brides, who writes about her cake tasting experience at Cake Fiction.
